- Concept /Topic To Teach: Teach the students to try and learn how to solve an everyday problem that they face
- General Goal(s): Have the students critical think and think of problem solving techniques
- Specific Objectives: Have the students think about problems or issues they hear throughout their week, or problems they are personally dealing with.
- Required Materials: A notebook and pen
- Step-By-Step Procedures:
- Have the students think for a week about problems in their life or in the world that they hear of, or problems that they are personally dealing with(if they choose to think about them).
- The next week have the students journal the problems or issues they heard of or are dealing with.
- Have them write what they could personally do about the problem.
- Next have them journal about why this is an issue or problem.
- Assessment Based On Objectives (#4): Grade for completion since some problems may be personal
- Adaptations (For Students With Learning Disabilities): Have these students draw a picture of the problem and draw how they feel about this problem.
- Extensions (For Gifted Students): Have these students answer the question "what can other people or a society do about this problem?"
- Connections To Other Subjects: This can connect to social studies and recent news. It can also relate to English and writing.
